Now what can possibly a Hollywood sex symbol and an ugly mythological creature have in common one might ask? Well for the common folk nothing at all, but for the experienced piercing enthusiast it rings a bell in our heads. The “Monroe” and “Medusa” are in fact names given to two common variations of lip piercings. Lip piercings are very common form of body modification today and come in various forms and names. In this article ill name some along the way, but exclusively I’m going to talk about the Monroe and the Medusa piercings.
When someone says "Monroe" the first thing popping in mind is the movie icon Marilyn Monroe. That of course is no coincidence as the piercing was named because it resembled the beauty mark of the star. It is placed off center, above the upper lip on the left hand side.
