Robinson Treacher, a soul/folk/Americana singer/songwriter based in New York City, has won the October SingerUniverse “Best Vocalist Of The Month” Competition, for his performance of his song “Tearing My Soul". This song is included on Treacher's debut solo album, Chrome, which was released by independent label Sojourn Records in November 2009.

“Tearing My Soul” is a soulful, uptempo song which has a classic sound to it. This song provides a fine showcase for Treacher's expressive, spirited vocal performance. The arrangement is fairly basic but effective, consisting of acoustic guitar, organ, bass and drums. "Tearing My Soul" was expertly produced & engineered by Mark Ambrosino, who is a known as a top drummer who has played with Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Michael McDonald. Ambrosino is also President of Sojourn Records.

Treacher grew up in Long Island, NY, where he learned to play drums at age 10 and guitar at 15. He was inspired by listening to such favorite artists as Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan. During middle school, Treacher sang in the boys' chorus, and in high school he played in some garage rock bands.

For college, Treacher attended Suny Oneonta State University in upstate New York, where he subsequently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature. It was also during this period that he formed a soul/rock band called Delaware Hudson, which released an album called A Moveable Feast.

Following several years with this band, Treacher decided four years ago to pursue a solo career as a singer/songwriter. "I began writing songs which were more acoustic-based," explained Treacher. "I wrote all the songs for my album Chrome, which was released by Sojourn Records. Sojourn has been very supportive, guiding my career and promoting my album."

The Chrome album generated good exposure for Treacher, andn has helped open doors, particularly with booking gigs in both New York andTautan Nashville. "I play a lot of shows in New York City (at such acoustic venues at The Living Room), and I've also traveled to Nashville three times recently to perform shows (at The Bluebird Cafe and other clubs) and to co-write. I've really enjoyed writing in Nashville--it's given my songs a more Americana flavor."

Treacher has also been busy writing & recording songs for his next album, which will be called Porches and is expected to be released this January (2012). "I'm excited to be mostly finished with my new album," he said. "This album will have a more stripped-down, acoustic sound to it."
