Priscilla Perry, a promising country singer & writer based in Yerington, Nevada, has won the August SingerUniverse “Best Vocalist Of The Month” Competition, for her performance of her song “It Doesn't Seem Hard” (co-written by Steve Long). This song was produced by Stacy Hogan of A Writer's Paradise Studio in Nashville.

“It Doesn't Seem Hard” is a contemporary, upbeat country song, which is well produced. This song provides a fine showcase for Perry's heartfelt, expressive vocals. Perry has a clear, appealing voice which is pleasant to listen to. "It Doesn't Seem Hard" was inspired by the true relationship between Perry and her longtime boyfriend, Taurus Massey.

"It's a love song that everyone can relate to," explained Perry. "The lyric says that the world is tough and people can go through rough times, but if you have a special relationship, it can make things easier. It becomes an easy relationship because it's working so well."

Perry, who is 22, was both in El Paso, TX, and grew up in Las Vegas, NV. She was inspired by her stepdad Steve Long, who is a professional singer & guitarist. Perry was also influenced by listening to her favorite artists such as Shania Twain, Martina McBride and Reba McEntire. She learned to play some guitar and piano, and for high school, she attended the Las Vegas Academy of the Performing and Visual Arts. She majored in choir, and she traveled and performed with the choir in New York, San Francisco and other cities.

Following high school, Perry moved to the small town of Yerington, which is south of Reno. This was partly to continue collaborating musically with Long, who performed at the Reno casinos. They co-wrote "It Doesn't Seem Hard" and several other songs, and recorded rough demos. Perry then decided to hire Nashville producer Stacy Hogan to do a full production of this song. "Stacy produced the tracks, and then I sang the vocals," said Perry. "It was great working with him, and I plan on working with him more in the future."

In addition to writing & recording, Perry performs regularly at various events in the Reno and Yerington areas. In July she performed at the Cal Neva Casino in Reno for their "Nashville Night" event. And she has made it to the regional finals of the Texaco Country Showdown.

Perry also credits the popular music site Broadjam for helping her connect with other artists and musicians online. "I'm a big fan of Broadjam," she said. "I like it because I can get feedback on my music from other people. I can also listen to other artists and give them feedback. It's a good community to be a part of." Perry entered the SingerUniverse Best Vocalist competition via Broadjam.
